PebbleGo is a fabulous resource for nonfiction reading and researching for first graders!
It has TONS of science and social studies topics, simple text, and will also read it to you.  The site is also very easy to navigate.
Login info is located in the files section on our class Teams Page.

Online version of the reading series.  We don't use this in class since we use leveled books, but it is a great online resource for reading!

A link to the Pioneer Valley website, publisher of many of students' favorite books including Bella and Rosie!  If you click here, you will be taken to the page that lists all of their various collections.  Find the collection you want to check out, then click the title.  On that page is an option to read the book online!
Free access to books online- the link above will take you to your Clever Login page to access Epic.  If you need our class code, it is located in the files section on our Teams Page.

Reading Log

Students must read each night, beginning with 15 minutes and eventually working their way up to at least 30 minutes.  These minutes are recorded on a reading log calendar  and are combined with minutes read during the school day.  Students earn certificates, ribbons, and trophies for the total number of hours they've read!

The following link will take you to a page where you can print a copy
of each of the monthly reading logs:

Writing and Spelling

Picture
Students in kindergarten and first grade have to learn how to read and spell many words!
Some of those words are known by different names:
Word Wall Words, Sight Words, Lightning Words, etc.
These are words that don't always follow a rule or spelling patterns and must be learned from sight.
Students will also learn words in word families that do follow a pattern.
Below is a link to a page that can be downloaded and printed to help students when they are writing.
